Spring has truly sprung!

There is no place quite like the Berkshires in the spring, and Sweetwood is so perfectly situated on a hillside overlooking the mountains and fields that we seem to be able to enjoy spring’s sweetness even more. To top off the beauty, our crab apple and cherry trees are in bloom out front, welcoming visitors to our doors and each of us home! Enjoy!

The rain has stopped and we are about to truly head into spring. The forecast for the next few days is sunshine and warm breezes, and Min Bourden, our wonderful floral artist, has given us all a gift of spring with a beautiful flower pot filled with daffodils, tulips, Easter lilies, and hyacinths! Be sure to take a look (and a smell) of the spring arrangement in the lobby. Thanks, Min!

Walking trip to Mt. Hope Farm

It was a lovely day in March when a bunch of us went to Mt. Hope Farm for a serene walk on the elegant grounds of this wonderful old estate.

Mardis Gras Celebration at Sweetwood!

Mardi Gras is celebrated in style with jumbalaya and a five piece jazz band from Williams College. Everyone enjoyed the fare and the festivities, as you can see!

Trip to the Butterfly Conservatory and Gardens

Everyone truly enjoyed the visit to the Butterfly Conservatory and Gardens in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. The lovely greenhouse and beautiful butterflies were a treat for us all. Hope others can join us the next time we venture east to visit this magical spot!

The Sweetwood Library is open 24 hours a day and you are always welcome! There are no due dates or overdue fee, but it is very important that everything taken from the room be signed out in the notebook on the desk. (There is a separate notebook for videos on the shelf there.)

When returning a book or video, please put it into the box on the library desk and make a note of the date of return in the notebook – on the line where you signed it out. If unable to find the entry, please leave a note.

If help is needed, just ask any member of the Library Committee or the librarian, Mary Ellen Pattee.

Good food, good friends, good fun at the staff luncheon

Thanks to the Bernadette and her talented kitchen staff, we all enjoyed a delicious lunch of broasted chicken, shrimp and succulent spare ribs! This was accompanied by salads, dips, breads and desserts galore that the staff brought in to share. It was a fun way to spend some time together as a group, fill our bellies, and take a bit of time to share stories and laughs.

Birthday Celebration!

Last Friday, January 22nd, one of our residents celebrated her 99th birthday! Esther Christensen was joined by her daughter, Jane, and eight of her Williamstown friends, for a lovely luncheon in The View, the dining room at Sweetwood. Balloons, cards, gifts, flowers and delicious food provided a festive atmosphere, and everyone sang happy birthday to a very happy and lovely Esther! Next year’s party will be even bigger, for sure!
